A weekend house that had been holding its breath.

The Project

The brief was simple on the surface: a Vermont A-frame that had good bones but felt like it belonged to someone else. The clients had bought it for weekends and eventually found themselves spending longer stretches there, which meant it needed to actually work as a home. We started with the light. A-frames are particular about light — the angles are steep, the windows are specific, and what feels cozy in theory can feel compressed in practice. We opened the palette toward the landscape: warm whites, natural wood, textiles that felt earned rather than purchased. The goal was a house that felt like it had always been this way.
